Zach joined the Li Lab as a researcher in Janurary of 2019. He received his B.S. degree in Biotechnology from the University of Wisconsin- Stout. During his undergrad he focused on alternative splicing as a regulator of cardiomyocyte development and apoptosis in lung cells exposed to fine air particulates. In his previous position he evaluated mitochondrial copy number by PCR in bone marrow transplant patients, implemented a PCR assay for relative telomere length in 4000 participants and assisted in the immunophenotyping of 10000 participants by flow cytometry. His current focus in the Li lab is evaluating protein biomarkers associated with plasma lipoproteins by mass spectrometry. In his free time he enjoys spending time rock climbing, fishing or relaxing with his fiancé and their 3 cats.
